Opinion: Predatory mining as a government policy

President Jair Bolsonaro found a very peculiar way to celebrate his 400 days of government: on February 5, he signed a proposal that endangers the socio-environmental protection of the Amazon, the fight against climate change and the very physical and cultural survival of the Indian people.

All at once, through a project that regulates mining and other highly impacting activities on indigenous lands. PL 191/2020 is blatantly unconstitutional, affronting human rights and represents one of the biggest attacks on indigenous peoples in the history of Brazil.
