On Wednesday (21), SAD (Articulation Against Misinformation), an initiative that brings together academic institutions and civil society organisations, among them Conectas, released a new document containing points of consensus regarding the draft bill on Fake News (PL 2630/2020).

In the text, SAD considers that accountability for content that is spread, transparency and the constitution of a regulatory body should be maintained in draft bill 2630, to achieve the best possible regulation of digital platforms in Brazil.

The group outline arguments for each of the three points, characterising and justifying their assessment regarding the reasons why they consider these points to be essential and non-negotiable. “Transparency reports should include: activity to moderate accounts and content; paid advertising and key words and a list of sources that are presumed trustworthy, when applicable”, it says in the document.
