This book is based on a research project titled “Promoting the Rights of Effective Defense of Defendants in Latin America,” which began in July 2012 and concluded at the end of 2014. The most important objective of this project is to contribute to the effective implementation of rights of people in need of criminal defense in Latin America in order to guarantee the right to a fair trial, especially those with limited economic resources.
