Until August 15, journalists from across Brazil can register their work for the 38th Vladimir Herzog Award for Amnesty and Human Rights.
Considered one of Brazil’s leading journalistic distinctions, the Vladimir Herzog Award recognizes reporting work that addresses democracy, citizenship and human rights.
There are eight categories: Art (illustrations, caricatures and cartoons), Photography, Television Documentary, Television Reporting, Radio, Newspaper, Magazine and Internet.
To enter, candidates must register on the award website, filling out the registration form and attaching their work published between August 1, 2015 and July 31, 2016.
Starting with this year’s edition of the award, Conectas will serve on the organizing committee, which is formed by another eleven institutions: FENAJ (National Federation of Journalists); São Paulo Union of Journalists; Justice and Peace Commission of the Archdiocese of São Paulo; Abraji (Brazilian Association of Investigative Journalism); UNIC Rio (United Nations Information Center in Brazil); ECA/USP (School of Communication and Art of the University of São Paulo); Vladimir Herzog Institute; Federal Council of the Brazilian Bar Association; São Paulo State Bar Association; São Paulo State Police Ombudsman’s Office; and Intercom (Brazilian Association of Interdisciplinary Studies on Communication).
The award ceremony will take place on October 25, at 8 pm, in the Tucarena auditorium of the TUCA theater in São Paulo.
