SUR :: New issue, new format

The Sur Journal has now opened the selection process for papers for its 21st issue. Researchers and advocates may submit their articles, case studies and institutional reflections on human rights practices until April 1. Detailed information on each of the paper types and the application process maybe found here.

The selected authors will inaugurate the journal’s new editorial line and new format, which from now on will have three digital issues (two in 2015 and three starting in 2016) and one annual printed publication. The texts will also change: the articles will be shorter and more accessible and dynamic, allowing a greater inclusion of contributions on human rights practices and guaranteeing a pluralistic debate of ideas.

“The change reflects the growing need to respond to the challenges of the day and is consistent with the transformations experienced by the human rights movement,” explained Ana Cernov, coordinator of the South-South program at Conectas. “A greater frequency will allow the content of SUR to communicate more with the daily reality of the activists and organizations, increasing its capacity to influence the global agenda.”

SUR has been published by Conectas since 2001 and is distributed to more than 3,000 subscribers in 100 countries, in Portuguese, English and Spanish. Its content can be accessed in full on the internet.
