This photograph taken on December 9, 2023, shows a document from the Department of Information of the United Nations, dated March 1949, bearing the French text of the "Declaration Universelle des Droits de l'Homme" (Universal Declaration of Human Rights) adopted and proclaimed by the General Assembly of the United Nations on December 10, 1948, displayed by an employee at the Bibliotheque Nationale de France (BnF - French National Library) in Paris. - In the wake of the Allied victory against Nazi Germany, the newly-created United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) on December 10, 1948 in Paris' Palais de Chaillot. The Declaration, which has no binding stipulations, but affirms individuals' fundamental rights and freedoms, and later translated into over 500 languages, is marking its 75th anniversary in December 2023.
