On July 28 and 29, civil society organizations are holding the event “2 years of Operação Escudo: Discussing Memory, Justice, and Reparation”. The first day of the event will be held at the campus of Unifesp, at CAAF (Center for Forensic Anthropology and Archeology) of the Baixada Santista region, and the second in São Paulo, at the USP Law School. The activities are organized by Conectas, Amnesty International, the New Illegalities Study Group (Geni – UFF), The Independent Movement and School Mães de Maio (EDEPE) and the Specialized Citizenship and Human Rights Center (NCDH) of the São Paulo State Public Defender’s Office.
Over the course of two days, the schedule includes the release of a report made by Geni – UFF analyzing the forensic evidence of all cases of Operação Escudo; the disclosure of a technical note on the work of the Prosecution Office in the control of police forces made by Amnesty International, and intends to foster public debate on memory, justice and reparation.
