In tribute to International Human Rights Day, celebrated on December 10, Sesc and Conectas are staging the 5th Ideas Fair, displaying projects in the categories Performance and Plastic Arts, Audiovisual, Photography, Journalism and Social and Community Initiatives. This year’s fair will have 27 projects, of which 5 are from guest organizations.
The event, which is open to the public and free of charge, will take place on December 16 (Saturday) starting at 2 pm at Sesc Pompéia (Rua Clélia, 93 – Água Branca, São Paulo – SP, 05042-000).
In addition to the fair, as an introduction, a panel discussion will be held on December 11, at 7:30 pm on the topic “Who defends the human rights defenders?”, to debate the threats faced by activists in Brazil. The round table will be moderated by the journalist Leonardo Sakamoto, a doctor in political science from the University of São Paulo (USP) and author of the popular Blog do Sakamoto on the UOL website. Participating on the round table will be the political ecologist Felipe Milanez, a professor at the Federal University of Bahia; the lawyer Júlia Neiva, a coordinator at Conectas; and Jurema Werneck, executive director of Amnesty International Brazil.
