Read the opinion article by Camila Asano, executive director at Conectas Human Rights and Gabriel Sampaio, director of litigation and advocacy at Conectas.

The text, which was published on Sunday (26) by the Folha de São Paulo newspaper, expresses expectations regarding the speech of the Minister for Human Rights, Silvio Almeida, at the 52nd session of the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council. There is hope that Brazil will now revive advocacy at the UN and rebuild the country´s human rights agenda.

“International advocacy can and should be the springboard for rebuilding Brazil´s human rights agenda and this will in turn lead to stronger foreign policy, in line with Article 4 of our Constitution which provides for the prevalence of human rights in our international relations”, the experts say in the article.
