The exhibition \u201cVisceral Reality\u201d, organized by the Criminal Justice Network<\/a>, of which Conectas is part, will be held from April 6-10 at the Conjunto Nacional commercial center in S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\n

Part of the campaign \u201cMass incarceration is not justice\u201d, the exhibition aims to raise awareness about the situation in the Brazilian prison system, with the use of virtual reality technology.<\/p>\n

According to the Criminal Justice Network, the experience is intended to open people\u2019s eyes and make them question the overcrowding of the system — Brazil currently has more than 600,000 prisoners and just 371,000 prison places — and the policy of mass incarceration, which primarily affects black youth from poor neighborhoods.<\/p>\n

The exhibition is open to the public and is free of charge.<\/p>\n

The Criminal Justice Network is formed by eight non-governmental organizations that are working to make the criminal justice system fairer and more respectful of fundamental rights and guarantees.<\/p>\n
