{"id":5385,"date":"2016-02-03T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-02-03T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/new.conectas.org.inf.br\/wp\/noticias\/transparency-and-participation\/"},"modified":"2021-03-22T20:39:22","modified_gmt":"2021-03-22T20:39:22","slug":"transparency-and-participation","status":"publish","type":"noticia","link":"https:\/\/conectas.org\/en\/noticias\/transparency-and-participation\/","title":"Transparency and participation","content":"<div class=\"tts_content_wrapper_1\" ><p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sdh.gov.br\/sobre\/participacao-social\/comite-nacional-de-prevencao-e-combate-a-tortura\"><u>CNPCT<\/u><\/a> (National Committee to Combat and Prevent Torture), a body linked to the Ministry of Women, Racial Equality and Human Rights, declared on December 7, 2015, that is has adopted important measures to broaden transparency and social participation in its work.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement came in response to repeated requests from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apt.ch\/pt\"><u>APT<\/u><\/a> (Association for the Prevention of Torture), Conectas and <a href=\"http:\/\/global.org.br\/\"><u>Justi\u00e7a Global<\/u><\/a> since August 2015 calling for greater clarity in the committee\u2019s working procedures and for the adoption of mechanisms to enable greater dialogue with civil society organizations and social movements.<\/p>\n<p>Among the measures, the CNPCT has agreed to create procedures for the participation of non-member organizations in its meetings, to disclose in advance its annual conference schedule and to publish the minutes of these meetings on its website.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDialogue between Brazilian organizations that work on combating torture and the CNPCT is essential to strengthen the effectiveness of its actions.
