\"\"<\/a>Since Monday, June 29, journalists from across Brazil have been able to register their work for the 37th Vladimir Herzog Award for Amnesty and Human Rights<\/strong>.\u00a0Considered one of Brazil\u2019s leading journalistic distinctions, the annual award recognizes reporting work that addresses democracy, citizenship and human rights in eight categories:\u00a0Art (illustrations, caricatures and cartoons), Photography, Television Documentary, Television Reporting, Radio, Newspaper, Magazine and Internet.<\/p>\n

To enter, candidates must register on the website www.premiovladimirherzog.org.br<\/u><\/a> by filling in the registration form and attaching their work published between August 6, 2014 and July 31, 2015.<\/p>\n

Just like in the last three years, the choice of the winners will occur in two stages. The final stage, scheduled for September 30<\/a>[l1]<\/a>\u00a0 in the Oscar Pedroso Horta Room of the S\u00e3o Paulo Municipal Legislature, is open to the public and will also be streamed live on the internet. The award ceremony, also open to the public, will take place on October 20, at 8 pm, at the Theater of the Catholic University of S\u00e3o Paulo (TUCA).<\/p>\n

The 37th Vladimir Herzog Journalism Award for Amnesty and Human Rights <\/strong>is staged and organized by 11 institutions: Fenaj (National Federation of Journalists), the Union of Professional Journalists of the State of S\u00e3o Paulo, the Justice and Peace Commission of the Archdiocese of S\u00e3o Paulo, Abraji (Brazilian Association of Investigative Journalism), Unic Rio (United Nations Information Center in Brazil), ECA\/USP (School of Communication and Art of the University of S\u00e3o Paulo), the Vladimir\u00a0Herzog Institute, the Federal Council of the Brazilian Bar Association, the S\u00e3o Paulo Chapter of the Brazilian Bar Association, the S\u00e3o Paulo State Police Ombudsman\u2019s Office and Intercom (Brazilian Association of Interdisciplinary Studies on Communication).<\/p>\n

For the first time, the award also has the institutional support of Conectas Human Rights. \u201cCommunication and journalism in particular play a fundamental role in the construction of a serious public debate on rights,\u201d said Muriel Asseraf, institutional development coordinator at the organization. \u201cWhich is why initiatives like this need permanent support.\u201d<\/p>\n
