It is hoped that the minister, who will testify in the Foreign Relations Commission of the Senate on Thursday, will answer them. The five questions were sent to the presidency of the Commission and to the minister\u2019s own office.<\/p>\n<p>Haris Azhar, of the Indonesian organization KontraS, questioned Vieira about the recent executions of two Brazilians in his country. Marcos Archer and Rodrigo Goularte had both been convicted of drug trafficking. During the 28th session of the UN Human Rights Council, the Brazilian government <a href=\"https:\/\/conectas.org\/en\/actions\/foreign-policy\/news\/34891-lesson-not-learned\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>had the chance to raise the tone<\/u><\/a> against the resumption of executions by the Indonesian government, but it chose to make a less incisive speech.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wCJZeWhTv2o\" width=\"680\" height=\"420\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Jamil Dakwar, of the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union), spoke about the persistent human rights violations in the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay and asked whether Brazil intends to receive ex-prisoners, following the example set by Uruguay. During the latest <a href=\"https:\/\/conectas.org\/en\/actions\/foreign-policy\/news\/33846-28th-session-of-the-un-human-rights-council-comes-to-an-end\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>passage of the U.S. through the Universal Periodic Review<\/u><\/a> \u2013 a UN mechanism to assess the human rights situation in its 193 member states \u2013 11 States recommended the closure of the prison.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/syC8bB9mmSE\" width=\"680\" height=\"420\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Arthur\u00a0Gwagwa, of Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum, asked about Brazil\u2019s position concerning the violations committed in Zimbabwe. Brazil, which has an embassy in the capital Harare, ought to use this privileged dialogue channel with the authorities of this African country. Gwagwa also requested clarifications about Brazil\u2019s role in the design of global internet governance.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xG20n5qSwfc\" width=\"680\" height=\"420\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kAs1V1jKGRE\" width=\"680\" height=\"420\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Laura Waisbich, adviser to the Foreign Policy program at Conectas, asked Vieira about the preparation of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.diplomatique.org.br\/artigo.php?id=1591\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>White Paper<\/u><\/a> \u2013 a document that will guide Brazil\u2019s international action. Waisbich wants to know whether the Brazilian population will be consulted before the final publication of the document and when the government plans to complete this process.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pfoQyhAmnc4\" width=\"680\" height=\"420\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The activists are participating in S\u00e3o Paulo in the <a href=\"https:\/\/conectas.org\/en\/actions\/colloquium\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>14th International Human Rights Colloquium<\/u><\/a>.
