A seminar organized by seven organizations in S\u00e3o Paulo will expose the lack of transparency in the Brazilian Judiciary and its impact on the appointment of judges by State Courts \u2013 currently guided by opaque and not particularly objective criteria. According to the organizations, the presence of jurists, students, social movements and civil society organizations in the debates demonstrates the urgency of opening the system to social participation and public monitoring.<\/p>\n

The event is free and will take place on Tuesday, June 9, from 9:30 am to 6 pm in the auditorium of the annex building to the University of S\u00e3o Paulo Law School. Registration is not necessary and participation certificates will be issued.<\/p>\n

The seminar is being organized by AJD<\/u><\/a> (Judges for Democracy Association), Article 19<\/u><\/a>, Colab-USP<\/u><\/a>, Conectas, IBCCrim<\/u><\/a> (Brazilian Criminal Sciences Institute), IDDD<\/u><\/a> (Defense of the Right to a Defense Institute), August XI Academic Center<\/u><\/a> and the Public Policy Management course at USP.<\/p>\n
