This traditional Award recognizes journalists, photo reporters, writers and sketch artists who uphold democracy and human rights in their daily work.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Those who are interested in taking part can access the website <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.premiovladimirherzog.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">www.premiovladimirherzog.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and check the rules. For this 46th edition, journalistic works published or broadcast in the period between July 31, 2023 and July 20, 2024, inclusive, are accepted.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are seven award categories:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Journalistic text productions published in printed or electronic media&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Audio journalistic productions \u2013 reports or documentaries&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Video journalistic productions \u2013 reports or documentaries&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Multimedia journalistic productions published online&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Photography \u2013 photo or photographic series published in printed or electronic media&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Art \u2013 illustrations, cartoons, caricatures and comics published in printed or electronic media&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Report book \u2013 works edited and released in 2023&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIn yet another edition, we will acknowledge communication professionals and fundamental personalities who exercise and promote essential rights in our country\u201d, says Giuliano Galli, president of the Vladimir Herzog Award Institute. For Galli, the most traditional and respected Brazilian journalism award brings together stories that reveal important facts about Brazilian life.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last year, of the 630 works in the running, 24 productions were selected for the final stage. \u201cWe received applications all parts of the country and hope for a similar outcome this year\u201d, says Ana Luisa Gomes, director of OBOR\u00c9 and responsible for curating the Award for 14 years. \u201cWith so many urgent issues that we are facing in Brazil, the daily agenda of professional journalism is a great social and political barometer of our society. Democracy and human rights in the country are also bound to good journalism practices. This award is an example of that\u201d, she highlights.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Organizing commission<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since its first edition, awarded in 1979, the Vladimir Herzog Journalism Award has paid tribute to personalities and communication professionals who stand out in promoting fundamental human rights and celebrates the life and work of journalist Vladimir Herzog, tortured and murdered by the civil-military dictatorship on October 25, 1975 at DOI-CODI (Information Operations Detachment of the Internal Defense Operations Center), in S\u00e3o Paulo.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last year, in the historic 45th anniversary edition, the award began to be organized by the Vladimir Herzog Award Institute, a civil association under private law, not for profit or for political purposes, founded in November 2022, in S\u00e3o Paulo.
