On Friday, the 22<\/span>nd<\/span> of March, starting at 3pm, the launch ceremony of the project \u201cStrengthening the reach and impact of human rights movements in Brazil\u201d will take place.  This programme seeks to strengthen the fight for justice and memory of violence victims from various states in Brazil. The event is organized by the Independent Mothers of May Movement, with support from Conectas Human Rights, and the CAAF (Center for Anthropology and Forensic Archeology), from Unifesp. The Initiative is supported by the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF) and covers four Brazilian states.<\/span><\/p>\n

There will be presentations by Prof. Javier Amadeo, from Unifesp and talks by Gabriel Sampaio, director of Litigation and Incidence at Conectas and Morris Tidball-Binz, Expert and UN Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial or Arbitrary Summary Executions at the event. Also participating in the launch are: D\u00e9bora Silva, Movimento Independente M\u00e3es de Maio; N\u00edvia Raposo, Movement of Mothers and families of victims of lethal State violence; Raiane Patr\u00edcia Severino Assump\u00e7\u00e3o, dean of Unifesp; Bruno Teixeira, representative of the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship; Maria Helena, executive secretary of the Ministry of Women; Samira Bueno, executive director of the Brazilian Public Security Forum; and Angela Pires, \u2013 Representative of the Regional Office for South America of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Sunday (24<\/span>th<\/span> of March), at 3pm, another free event will take place at Ponto de Cultura Bloco do Beco (Rua Bento Barroso Pereira, 02, Jardim S\u00e3o Francisco de Assis), where the booklet and documentary of the project \u201cListen to the Mothers of May: Let’s Go birth a new Brazil\u201d, will be launched in addition to cultural presentations.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>
