In a public note released on Wednesday (3<\/span>rd<\/span> of January), six organizations working on the issue of public security expressed their concern regarding recent statements by the governor of S\u00e3o Paulo, <\/span>Tarc\u00edsio de Freitas<\/b>, on the interruption of investments in the body camera project for state military police.<\/span><\/p>\n

The organizations emphasize that body cameras, even though they do not solve all of the challenges related to crime in S\u00e3o Paulo, are tool with strong positive effects. They believe that improving the use of these cameras are essential to improving public safety in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n

The alert is signed by Conectas Human Rights, Brazilian Public Security Forum, Sou da Paz Institute, Igarap\u00e9 Institute, JUSTA as well as USP Violence Studies Center (NEV).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>
