{"id":3680,"date":"2014-02-26T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2014-02-26T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/new.conectas.org.inf.br\/wp\/noticias\/humanitarian-access-in-syria\/"},"modified":"2018-01-30T21:23:27","modified_gmt":"2018-01-30T21:23:27","slug":"humanitarian-access-in-syria","status":"publish","type":"noticia","link":"https:\/\/conectas.org\/en\/noticias\/humanitarian-access-in-syria\/","title":"Humanitarian access in Syria","content":"<div class=\"tts_content_wrapper_1\" ><p>Conectas \u2013 together with 17 other human rights organizations \u2013 issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/conectas.org\/arquivos\/editor\/files\/Welcome%20NGOStatementOnSyria.docx\"><u>statement<\/u><\/a> welcoming Resolution 2139, approved on February 22 by the UN Security Council, which demands safe and unhindered humanitarian access to the victims of the armed conflict in Syria. The statement is similar to a <a href=\"https:\/\/conectas.org\/arquivos\/editor\/files\/Carta%20NGOSochiLetterOnSyria.docx\"><u>series of requests<\/u><\/a> made previously, in a letter sent by the same group of organizations to the Security Council.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe resolution is a diplomatic breakthrough, but it is not yet a humanitarian breakthrough,\u201d reads the statement, noting that the resolution should produce real changes in the situation for the victims within 30 days. \u201cThe action by the Security Council is an important step towards getting desperately needed aid to millions\u00a0of Syrians, including a quarter of a million who are trapped in besieged communities.
