On Friday (29), the <\/span>10th FOSPA (Pan-Amazonian Social Forum)<\/span><\/a> will host a self-organised activity on the cases of the Indigenous Lands Uru-Eu-Wau-Wau and the Arara-Kowit of the Indigenous Land, Cachoeira Seca. The proposal is to discuss ways of ensuring these people\u00b4s rights to territory and public policies. The activity will be held in Room 413 at the Federal University of Par\u00e1 (UFPA), in Bel\u00e9m (Par\u00e1). <\/span><\/p>\n

The event is being organised by Conectas, the KOWIT Association, the Jupa\u00fa Association, GTI PIACI (International Working Group for the Protection of Indigenous People in Isolation and Initial Contact), the Ma\u00edra Institute and Kanind\u00e9 (Association for Ethno-Environmental Protection). <\/span><\/p>\n

Those participating in the activity include: Antenor Vaz, GTI PIACI; Bitat\u00e9 Uru-eu-wau-wau, President of the Uru-eu-wau-wau\/Jupa\u00fa Association of Indigenous Peoples; Chief Mobu Od\u00f3 Arara, Kowit Association; Ivaneide Bandeira, from Kanind\u00e9; J\u00falia Mello Neiva, Coordinator of the Conectas programme for the Protection of Socioenvironmental Development and Rights and Daniel Lopes Faggiano, from the Ma\u00edra Institute.<\/span><\/p>\n

About FOSPA <\/span><\/h2>\n

The Pan-Amazonian Social Forum is a space for articulation, action and reflection on the Amazon Basin. Its objective is to articulate the agendas of Amazonian organisations and networks and to draw attention to proposals to protect Amaz\u00f4nia from climate change and inter-cultural relations.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>
