{"id":35385,"date":"2022-04-20T13:34:02","date_gmt":"2022-04-20T13:34:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/conectas.org\/?post_type=noticia&#038;p=35385"},"modified":"2022-04-26T13:16:32","modified_gmt":"2022-04-26T13:16:32","slug":"event-discusses-the-role-of-the-escazu-agreement-in-the-amazon","status":"publish","type":"noticia","link":"https:\/\/conectas.org\/en\/noticias\/event-discusses-the-role-of-the-escazu-agreement-in-the-amazon\/","title":"Event discusses the role of the Escaz\u00fa Agreement in the Amazon","content":"<div class=\"tts_content_wrapper_1\" ><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Thursday (21<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">st<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of April), an event promoted by Conectas, Asociaci\u00f3n Ambiente y Sociedad, DAR (Derecho, Ambiente y Recursos Naturales), Coalici\u00f3n Regional, Coica (Coordination of Indigenous Organizations of the Amazon Basin) debated the importance of the Escaz\u00fa Agreement for the effective protection of the Amazon biome.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Escaz\u00fa Agreement is a regional treaty on access to information, public participation and access to justice in environmental matters in Latin America and the Caribbean.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The event takes place in parallel to COP 1, which will take place in Santiago, at the headquarters of ECLAC (Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean). The debate will be in Spanish, held online, through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/coalicionregional\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Coalici\u00f3n Regional&#8217;s YouTube channel<\/a>, and will begin at 8:30 am (Brasilia time).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Participating in the event are: C\u00e9sar Gamboa, executive director of DAR, Oscar Daza, coordinator of human rights at Coica, Vanessa Torres, from Asociaci\u00f3n Ambiente y Sociedad, Silvia Molina, from Cedla, and Julia Neiva, coordinator of the Defense of Social and Environmental
