On Wednesday 6 October, Conectas is participating in two events within the framework of the VI Regional Forum on Business and Human Rights for Latin America and the Caribbean, organised by the Office in Mexico of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights. Conectas will be guests at the first event and are among  the organisers of the second one. <\/span><\/p>\n

At 11am (time in Bras\u00edlia), J\u00falia Mello Neiva, coordinator of the Conectas programme, the Defence of Socio-environmental Rights, will be participating in the session \u201cDue diligence and commercial and investment policies\u201d, organised by the OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development). This meeting will be to explore different regional perspectives on regulatory initiatives in progress, in the area of due diligence. The session \u201cHuman rights and the impact of business on the indigenous peoples in Amaz\u00f4nia, the Andes and Mesoamerica\u201d, will take place at 4pm (time in Bras\u00edlia). This is being organised by Conectas along with other institutions: Coordinadora Andina de Organizaciones Ind\u00edgenas, Abya Yala Indigenous Forum, Centro de Informaci\u00f3n sobre Empresas y Derechos Humanos, Indigenous Peoples Rights International, Oxfam Brasil and Oxfam. <\/span><\/p>\n

At this meeting, leaders of indigenous peoples from Brazil and other Latin American and Caribbean countries will discuss the impact of corporate activities on their territories and strategies implemented to protect their rights. The VI Regional Forum on Business and Human Rights is taking place within the framework of the project \u201cResponsible Business Conduct in Latin America and the Caribbean\u201d, led by the OECD and ILO, with the support of the European Union.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>
