On Thursday 7th October, at 10am, Conectas Human Rights and Ulster University are holding a debate on \u201cViolence, Militarised Policing and Mental Health in Brazil\u201d. This webinar is being held in parallel to the 48th session of the United Nations HRC (Human Rights Council). Click <\/span>here<\/span><\/a> to sign up.<\/span><\/p>\n

The focus of the event is a discussion on the militarisation of public security and police violence in Brazil. Before the debate there will be a premiere screening of the documentary <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Right Now I want to Scream<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/a>, a partnership between Brazil and the United Kingdom which addresses state violence in the Rio de Janeiro favelas.<\/span><\/p>\n

There will be simultaneous interpretation (English\/Portuguese) and those participating in the event include Gabriel Sampaio, coordinator on the Conectas programme, Tackling Institutional Violence, Siobh\u00e1n Will, co-director of audio-visual production and a Professor at Ulster University and Ana Paula Oliveira, from the Mothers of Manguinhos Movement. <\/span><\/p>\n
