{"id":33653,"date":"2021-09-28T14:12:29","date_gmt":"2021-09-28T14:12:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/conectas.org\/?post_type=noticia&#038;p=33653"},"modified":"2021-10-05T12:22:51","modified_gmt":"2021-10-05T12:22:51","slug":"organizations-request-answers-from-the-brazilian-government-regarding-the-usa-stance-on-haitian-migrants","status":"publish","type":"noticia","link":"https:\/\/conectas.org\/en\/noticias\/organizations-request-answers-from-the-brazilian-government-regarding-the-usa-stance-on-haitian-migrants\/","title":"Organizations request answers from the Brazilian government regarding the USA stance on Haitian migrants","content":"<div class=\"tts_content_wrapper_1\" ><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Tuesday (28 September), civil society organisations sent a letter to Minister Carlos Fran\u00e7a, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Minister Anderson Torres, at the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, calling on the Brazilian government to speak out against the \u201cdiscriminatory, xenophobic migration policy being implemented by the United States against Haitians\u201d.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The signatories of the letter are ASBRAD (Brazilian Association for the Defence of Women, Childhood and Youth), Conectas and Miss\u00e3o Paz.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The document expresses concern regarding serious violations of the rights of Haitian migrants who seek shelter in the United States. The letter, which contains information from associations linked to the migratory cause, says that Haitian migrants \u201care being harshly repressed by the North American government and are being collectively and summarily deported to Haiti\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore, the organizations request answers from the Federal Government concerning the plight of Brazilian children who have been deported to Haiti. The International Organisation for Migration stated that around 30 Brazilian children, mostly under three years of age, have been deported with their Haitian parents.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The organizations also requested information about a meeting held by the Brazilian chancellor, Carlos Fran\u00e7a and the United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, during the UN General Assembly in New York, last week. According to the press, those participating in the meeting talked about the possibility of the Brazilian government receiving charter flights of Haitian migrants, who are to be deported by the Biden government.
