On Friday 24<\/span>th<\/span>, Conectas and Sur, International Journal on Human Rights, published the results of the selection process for four writing grants with a view to publication in the 31st edition of the journal. <\/span><\/p>\n

The selection process received 1,203 applications from black people and 216 applications from indigenous people, making a total of 1,419 applications. Following the stage of analysing the proposals and interviews, as set out in the call for applications, the chosen candidates and their respective subject matter were:<\/span><\/p>\n

1. Mariah Rafaela Cordeiro Gonzaga da Silva \u2013<\/b>Surveillance and security <\/span>
\n<\/span>2. Ang\u00e9lica Ferrarez de Almeida<\/b>\u2013 The Covid-19 pandemic and the impact on human rights <\/span>
\n<\/span>3. Yara Pinho de Lima<\/b> \u2013 The Covid-19 pandemic and the impact on human rights <\/span>
\n<\/span>4. Kamutaja Silva \u00c3wa<\/b> \u2013 Original peoples, climate and environmental justice<\/span><\/p>\n

The Sur Journal team and Professor Dr Vera Rodrigues congratulated the selected authors and thanked everyone who sent in proposals. They encouraged everyone to read the publication of the final texts in the next edition of Sur and to participate in future calls for applications issued by the journal. The committee in charge of the selection process also added that due to the high volume of applications, it would not be possible to contact those who had not been selected for the interview phase individually.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>
