{"id":32685,"date":"2021-07-08T12:55:59","date_gmt":"2021-07-08T12:55:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/conectas.org\/?post_type=noticia&#038;p=32685"},"modified":"2021-07-16T17:55:00","modified_gmt":"2021-07-16T17:55:00","slug":"event-discusses-the-impact-of-brazils-migration-policy-on-venezuelans-entering-the-country","status":"publish","type":"noticia","link":"https:\/\/conectas.org\/en\/noticias\/event-discusses-the-impact-of-brazils-migration-policy-on-venezuelans-entering-the-country\/","title":"Event discusses the impact of Brazil\u00b4s migration policy on Venezuelans entering the country","content":"<div class=\"tts_content_wrapper_1\" ><p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Updated on 12 July 2021<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Monday 12 July, Conectas, CDHIC (Centre for Human Rights and Citizenship), I-MIGRa, Sefras (Franciscan Solidarity Service), ITTC (Institute for Land, Labour and Citizenship), Miss\u00e3o Paz, DPU, Franciscans International and MIGRAIDH hosted the webinar \u201cBrazil-Venezuela Border: the impact of Brazilian migration policy on the flow of Venezuelan migrants.\u201d The event was held within the framework of the 47th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council and will be attended by Felipe Gonz\u00e1lez, UN special rapporteur for Migration.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The broadcast, in Portuguese, Spanish and English will be on the Zoom platform and the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCpl8tCmS-oADDVeHwjZcf4A\/videos?app=desktop&amp;view=0&amp;sort=dd&amp;shelf_id=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CDHIC YouTube channel<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Registration can be done via&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/us06web.zoom.us\/webinar\/register\/WN_r3XniZWeQxCNSBAOeurGzQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">this link.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The aim of the meeting is to attract the attention of the international community to the migratory flow of Venezuelans in Brazil and topics covered will include rights violations of migrants and refugees during the Covid-19 pandemic, with particular analysis of federal decrees that have closed borders and limited access to legal documents.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Along with Gonz\u00e1lez, the following people will also participate in the debate: Merlina Saudade, Venezuelan psychologist and activist in the Venezuelan migration process; Laura Dib, director of the Cl\u00ednica Jur\u00eddica para Migrantes de la Universidad de los Andes (The University of Andes Law Think-Tank for Migrants);&nbsp;Ronildo Rodrigues,&nbsp;executive secretary at C\u00e1ritas Diocesana of Roraima&nbsp;and Jo\u00e3o Chaves, federal public defender. The moderator will be Madison Gonz\u00e1lez, a Venezuelan migrant, with a Master\u00b4s degree in Geography at UFPR and currently studying for a doctorate in Geography at
