\u201cThe situation in Brazil is desperate,\u201d said the representative of Comiss\u00e3o Arns, Maria Herm\u00ednia Tavares de Almeida, on the morning of Monday, March 15, at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland. The complaint, made in partnership with Conectas Human Rights, occurred on the day that Brazil registered more than 278,000 deaths <\/strong><\/a><\/span>from Covid-19.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe came here today to criticize the recurring attitudes of President Jair Bolsonaro about the pandemic. He disregards the recommendations of scientists; he has repeatedly discredited all the protection measures \u2013 such as the use of masks and social distancing; he has promoted the use of ineffective drugs; he has halted the coordination capacity of the federal health authority; he has dismissed the importance of the vaccines; he has laughed at the fears and tears of families and told Brazilians to stop \u2018fussing and whining\u2019,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n
