The social movement called \u201cNational Decarceration Agenda\u201d and Conectas sent the Amap\u00e1 state governor Waldez G\u00f3es on Friday, November 13, a request for information on the conditions in the prison system on account of the blackout in the state.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The main intention of the organizations is to discover how the state\u2019s prisons and youth detention centers are coping with the crisis. Amap\u00e1 has had no electrical energy for several days now.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The organizations want to know how staff and prisoners are being instructed to deal with the situation and whether hygiene products, medicines, food and water are being provided.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAlthough (\u2026) it is recognized that this is a state-wide problem, it is imperative for the state government \u2013 and society in general \u2013 to be vigilant to prevent historically marginalized and vulnerable people from being neglected in attempts at normalization and having their situation unjustifiably aggravated,\u201d said the organizations in the document.<\/span><\/p>\n
