Covid-19, the first case of which was recorded in Brazil in February, has already caused hundreds of deaths in the country and it appears far from being under control.<\/p>\n<p>As the disease spreads across the country, concerns rise over the possible impacts of the pandemic on the most socially vulnerable populations.<\/p>\n<p>Discover below some initiatives that you can support without leaving home:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Indigenous Peoples<\/strong><br \/>\nWith the intention of buying food, medicine and hygiene materials for villages across the country, APIB (Coalition of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil) has organized a crowdfunding campaign at the link <span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vakinha.com.br\/vaquinha\/apoie-os-povos-indigenas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>APIB \u2013 Support indigenous peoples<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Urban outskirts (S\u00e3o Paulo and Rio de Janeiro)<\/strong><br \/>\nThe organization Redes da Mar\u00e9 is running a campaign to raise funds to help the residents of the 16 communities that make up the Mar\u00e9 slum complex, in Rio de Janeiro. You can make a donation by <span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/redesdamare.org.br\/br\/quemsomos\/coronavirus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>clicking here<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The movements Uneafro Brasil, Rede UBUNTU, MSTC, AMPARAR, Herdeiros Human\u00edsticos, Batalha do Parais\u00f3polis and Comunidade Evang\u00e9lica Voz que Prega no Deserto, from the Heli\u00f3polis favela in S\u00e3o Paulo, have joined forces to provide assistance to the communities where they work. The project to give <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vakinha.com.br\/vaquinha\/campanha-de-solidariedade-em-tempos-de-coronavirus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>immediate support to black and poor families from the urban outskirts<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span> has completed its first stage of raising R$50,000 and the money is being used to buy food and hygiene kits for 241 families, and they are still receiving donations.<\/p>\n<p>UNAS serves almost five thousand children and teenagers from Heli\u00f3polis (SP) daily, who receive daily care and basic food in their social projects. Every R $ 150.00 through <span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/benfeitoria.com\/HELIPA?ref=benfeitoria-pesquisa-projetos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the Benfeitoria website<\/a><\/strong><\/span> you donate a basic basket + hygiene and cleaning kit to a family in Heli\u00f3polis.<\/p>\n<p>In Bahia, civil society organizations launched a campaign to address the impacts of covid-19 and support vulnerable families. The <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vakinha.com.br\/vaquinha\/solidariedade-para-os-grupos-vulneraveis-ao-covid-19-na-bahia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">campaign<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/span> is expected to serve around 5,000 families in Salvador, the Metropolitan Region and other municipalities in Bahia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Asylum and migration (S\u00e3o Paulo)<\/strong><br \/>\nThe organization Miss\u00e3o Paz is asking for donations for the \u201cCasa do Migrante\u201d (Migrant Center), which provides shelter for approximately 80 people of different nationalities and different situations of social vulnerability. The center needs funds to buy personal hygiene and cleaning items. The priest has set up a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.change.org\/p\/prefeitura-municipal-de-s%C3%A3o-paulo-prefeitura-forne%C3%A7a-acolhida-e-%C3%A1lcool-gel-para-os-moradores-de-rua-se-protegerem-do-corona\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><strong>petition<\/strong><\/span><\/a> to pressure the S\u00e3o Paulo municipal government to provide hygiene
