{"id":19311,"date":"2019-12-06T19:44:00","date_gmt":"2019-12-06T19:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/conectas.org\/?post_type=noticia&#038;p=19311"},"modified":"2021-04-05T13:12:00","modified_gmt":"2021-04-05T13:12:00","slug":"conectas-launches-climate-litigation-guide-during-cop25","status":"publish","type":"noticia","link":"https:\/\/conectas.org\/en\/noticias\/conectas-launches-climate-litigation-guide-during-cop25\/","title":"Conectas launches Climate Litigation Guide during COP25","content":"<div class=\"tts_content_wrapper_1\" ><p>To debate climate litigation strategies and discuss the possibilities of using them in the<br \/>\nBrazilian context, Conectas has launched the Climate Litigation Guide during the<br \/>\nCOP25 (United Nations Conference on Climate Change), one of the largest climate<br \/>\nevents in the world.<\/p>\n<p>The COP25 is taking place from December 2-13 in Madrid and is being attended by<br \/>\ngovernment representatives, activists and scholars with the goal of achieving the<br \/>\ntargets established in the Paris Agreement and strengthening policies to combat<br \/>\nclimate change.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLitigation has proven to be an important tool when addressing the causes of climate<br \/>\nchange around the world. The guide is intended to provide tools and guidance for<br \/>\nprofessionals who work in the field and who want to act more decisively to combat<br \/>\nclimate change in Brazil,\u201d said Jefferson Nascimento, an advisor to the Development<br \/>\nand Socioenvironmental Rights program at Conectas.<\/p>\n<p>The document was produced in partnership with iCS (Institute for Climate and Society)<br \/>\nand was launched on Friday, December 6, during the panel \u201cProspects for Stronger<br \/>\nClimate Litigation in Latin America: cases, approaches and opportunities\u201d, organized by<br \/>\niCS in partnership with Conectas Human Rights and AIDA (Interamerican Association<br \/>\nfor Environmental Defense).<\/p>\n<p>Participating on the panel were the consultant for Conectas, Gabriel Mantelli; the<br \/>\nprosecutor Alexandre Gaio; Caroline Dihl Prolo, of the Latin America Climate Lawyers<br \/>\nInitiative; Astrid Puentes, of AIDA; Jesus Medina, of the Colombian organization<br \/>\nDejusticia; and Roxana Baldrich, of the German organization Germanwatch.
