{"id":15024,"date":"2018-07-25T18:05:07","date_gmt":"2018-07-25T18:05:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/conectas.org\/?post_type=noticia&#038;p=15024"},"modified":"2021-04-06T15:06:01","modified_gmt":"2021-04-06T15:06:01","slug":"conectas-condemns-restriction-on-the-right-to-the-freedom-of-assembly-and-association","status":"publish","type":"noticia","link":"https:\/\/conectas.org\/en\/noticias\/conectas-condemns-restriction-on-the-right-to-the-freedom-of-assembly-and-association\/","title":"Conectas condemns restriction on the right to the freedom of assembly and association","content":"<div class=\"tts_content_wrapper_1\" ><p>Conectas Human Rights is calling attention to restrictions on the right to freedom of peaceful association which could hinder fulfilment of the objectives of sustainable development.\u00a0 According to the organisation, laws passed with the intention of limiting the right to protest are a clear obstacle to the implementation of Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.<\/p>\n<p>The organisation cites the anti-terrorism law, passed in Brazil in 2016 which has made it possible for members of Congress and the Senate to apply laws in a more restrictive way and to criminalise social movements and civil society\u2019s rights. The NGO sees the law as placing limits on civil society\u2019s ability to organise and to protest for rights, as well as limiting assistance in implementing Agenda 2030.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><u><a
