Strategy Web\u2019s objective is to create a space for dialogue and exchange of best practices in working with foreign policy and human rights. This collective, formed by Conectas and another six organisations in the Global South, is launching its first publication at the 38th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland, today 21\/06.<\/p>\n

The report A Collection of Thoughts From The Global South on Foreign Policy and Human Rights: Experiences and strategies from the field, <\/em>stresses the importance of civil society organisations\u2019 work in monitoring, influencing and pressuring governments to take foreign policy decisions that positively impact human rights. The document presents strategies to promote and protect human rights overseas and includes cases from Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, Nigeria, Mongolia, India, the Maldives and Indonesia.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe countries of the Global South are increasingly calling for more active spaces supporting international policy. Although diplomatic participation in countries like Brazil has increased in recent years, the country\u2019s foreign policy is still not very transparent, which runs counter to the need for states to adopt responsible practices in their foreign policy.\u201d Camila Asano, Programme Coordinator at Conectas.<\/p>\n
