In preparation for the third cycle of Brazil’s Universal Periodic Review in the UN, Conectas on March 5 staged at its offices in São Paulo a specific training course for university students from 19 different Brazilian states. Back at their universities, they shared their new knowledge with professors and colleagues and together they organized UPR simulations on the topics and challenges of the hearing, which took place on May 5 in the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland. The UPR is the main international mechanism for reviewing the human rights situation in UN Member States and it takes place every four and a half years.
