The 7th Ideas Fair, which is an event created by Conectas and hosted by Sesc 24 de Maio to mark International Human Rights Day, is now accepting submissions from exhibitors.
Projects that cover human rights issues in areas such as migration and asylum, antiracism, climate justice, religious freedom and diversity, the rights of indigenous people, gender equality and LGBQIA+ rights, and other topics, can enter the selection process.
As in previous editions, 20 projects aimed at promoting and upholding human rights will be selected to go on display. Submissions will be accepted from 17 August to 25 September 2023, solely online.
The event will take place on 2 and 3 December 2023, from 11am to 6pm on Saturday and from 11am to 5pm on Sunday, at Sesc 24 de Maio (Rua 24 de maio, 109 – República), in São Paulo.
The following are eligible applicants: students (from universities and high schools), researchers, artists, journalists, independent communicators, non-governmental organisations, collectives, social movements, non-profit organisations and others working on projects related to human rights in the following categories: visual arts; audiovisual content (documentary and fiction of up to 10 minutes); photography, social and community initiatives and journalism.
The projects will be chosen by the curatorial team comprised of professionals from Conectas and Sesc. Priority will be given to projects that exhibit the greatest potential for audience interaction and engagement during the event. The curators will also consider diversity in terms of race, gender and sexual orientation in their choice of projects. You can find additional information on the selection process and the application form in our call for submissions.
Each exhibitor will receive a daily allowance for meals and transportation. This activity is non-competitive and does not involve any type of prize. The call for submissions contains information on how each initiative can be displayed and the resources that will be available to participants. The results of the selection process will be announced on 27 October on the Conectas and Sesc 24 de Maio websites.
