Given the proximity of the municipal elections, dozens of organizations came together on Tuesday, September 29, to release a letter of commitment for the purpose of discussing the situation of migrant rights in the city of São Paulo.
The letter lists 13 measures that address migration and asylum and is intended for all the candidates who care about the topic.
Among the steps that need to be taken by the candidates who sign the letter, when elected, is the passage of laws and the application of rules necessary to guarantee the rights of migrants, regardless of their status, whether migratory, age, gender, etc.
The intention of the signatory organizations is for the elected candidates in São Paulo to take care of the migration situation in the city, coming up with ways to protect their rights, thereby guaranteeing the social, cultural, economic and political development of the São Paulo state capital.
All the signed letters will be published on the website Migramundo, which focuses on migration issues.
