Twenty-three organizations, all members of the International Coalition of Organizations for Human Rights in the Americas, are calling for an end to the persecution of human rights defenders in Venezuela.
In a joint statement, the organizations denounced acts of intimidation and threats of violence against members of human rights organizations by agents of the government of President Nicolas Maduro, particularly on the official media channels.
In October, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights issued a precautionary measure in favor of the team of coordinators of the NGO Provea (Program for Education and Action in Human Rights).
Both the joint statement and the request for a precautionary measure counted on the support of Conectas.
