Enrolment open for free course on legal system

Lawyers, students and leaders of social movements have until 10 August to enrol.

The Human Rights Collective: Via Campesina; JusDh (Legal Liaison and Human Rights); ABJD (Brazilian Association of Lawyers for Democracy) and IPDMS (Institute for Research on Rights and Social Movements) is holding its 1st Course on the Legal System, aimed at lawyers, law students and leaders of social movements, from 27 to 31 August 2018.

This activity is still being developed and has two main objectives: to encourage critical debate on the legal system and to train leaders, people’s lawyers and students to be multipliers of strategies for fighting for a new legal model. We understand that deeper discussion on legal policy and its democratisation is an urgent and necessary issue which requires continuous dialogue between civil society, universities and social movements and we hope to be able to count on their contributions.

Places are limited and certain criteria will be taken into consideration in order to include different organisations and social movements that are interested, to ensure equity of gender and race and to welcome people from different regions. Enrolment is until 10 August.

The course is free and accommodation and food will be provided. We recommend that organisations/movements cover travelling expenses. Requests for assistance for travel will be assessed according to available resources. Please state whether you need this assistance when you enrol.
